Assistant

The Assistant is the workspace-scoped chat in the Polycrate UI with read-only tools and token-based billing. How it differs from the API MCP and the CLI MCP.

Assistant

The Assistant is the chat in the Polycrate UI. The session belongs to the workspace, not to a user. Billing runs through the organization of the workspace (MTok).

It is not the API MCP and not the local CLI MCP. MCP reads the platform from the IDE; the Assistant is a separate turn loop with tools and billing.

What the Assistant can do

  • Workspace context (alerts, maintenance, objects) in the chat
  • Read-only tools: list, inspect, logs, metrics — always filtered to session.workspace
  • Optionally a Provider Account with api_kind=openai_compat; otherwise SystemConfig OPENAI_*

It cannot write (no create/update/delete), read Kubernetes Secrets or run kubectl exec.

Billing

Weighted million tokens (input / output / cached). Fallback product: SystemConfig.default_assistant_product. Mapping model_glob → product via AssistantProductMapping.
