How ayedo makes this possible
Federated architecture, its own SDN and multi-tenancy at every level - a PoP is simply a place where workloads run.
Federated Kubernetes distribution
Our Kubernetes distribution and management platform are built federated from the ground up. Control plane and worker nodes do not need to be in the same data center - each new PoP is simply onboarded as another location.
Own SDN
ayedo operates its own software-defined network. Worker nodes at any location are fully automatically networked - independent of the provider’s physical network. No VPN setup, no manual routing configuration on your side.
Multi-tenancy at every level
The platform supports multi-tenancy at every level: cluster, namespace, network, storage and billing. End-customer workloads are fully isolated - regardless of whether they run on the same PoP or across different locations.
Sovereign infrastructure, maximum freedom of choice
Kubernetes clusters in minutes - location, certification and node type selectable directly in the portal. Customers decide where their workloads run.
How the architecture works
Two layers, clear division of responsibilities - you operate the infrastructure, we operate the platform.
Edge Cloud - ayedo
Load balancing, DNS, anycast, transit routing, DDoS mitigation - all incoming customer traffic flows through the ayedo Edge Cloud. You don’t need to provide any edge functions.
Compute Cloud - You + ayedo
VMs or dedicated servers as Kubernetes worker nodes for customer environments. Worker nodes are fully automatically provisioned via the ayedo toolchain through the API and networked via our SDN.
Kubernetes platform - ayedo
Control plane, central platform services, managed apps and end-customer portal are operated by ayedo itself. Edge and compute locations do not need to be in the same data center.
Who we’re looking for
We’re specifically looking for SMEs, mid-sized infrastructure providers and specialized data center operators - explicitly not hyperscalers.
Minimum requirements
The following criteria must be met:
- Location in Germany or Europe
- Own data center or colocation (min. Tier 3, ISO 27001 or equivalent)
- VMs (dedicated servers optionally in addition)
- API-based provisioning (OpenStack > Proxmox > Custom API)
- Custom images and cloud-init
- Public IPv4 per instance
- IPv6 Ready
- Monthly or consumption-based billing
Strong advantages
Not a hard requirement, but strongly preferred:
- BSI C5 attestation (Type II preferred) or EN 50600
- CSI-compatible block storage (Ceph RBD, Cinder CSI)
- BGP peering with customer ASN (ayedo: AS204762)
- Own ASN and IP routing
- SCS-certified OpenStack cloud
- Spot or reserved models
Not wanted
The following providers are explicitly excluded:
- Hyperscalers (AWS, GCP, Azure, OVHcloud, IONOS Enterprise tier)
- Pure managed service providers without self-service API
- Shared hosting or pure web hosting offerings
- Providers without own infrastructure (pure resellers)

Frequently asked questions
Do we have to answer all questions?
No. A feasibility response with indicative pricing is sufficient for the start. The form marks required fields; everything else we’ll clarify in the follow-up meeting.
We don’t have OpenStack - only Proxmox or a custom API. Is that OK?
Yes. The key requirement is that VMs or dedicated servers can be fully automatically provisioned via API, including cloud-init and custom images. OpenStack is preferred, but not a prerequisite.
We don’t operate our own data center, just colocation. Is that OK?
Yes, provided the colocation space is in an established, certified data center (min. Tier 3 or equivalent, ISO 27001 or EN 50600).
We’re too small for 100-location visions.
That’s exactly who we’re looking for. A single solid location is a fully-fledged PoP. Size is not a disqualifying factor - technical quality and API maturity are what matter.

Is there already a pilot or reference PoP?
ayedo operates its own PoPs in several German data centers. Extending the Compute Cloud through partner PoPs is the next step. Interested providers will receive a detailed technical specification after the market exploration.
