Our core business is operating complex applications. Our mission is to provide our customers with technical advantages at fair prices. Our team has more than 25 years of experience in developing and operating performant and secure systems based on Linux and open source components. Hosting is our specialty, so to speak. When someone asks me what we do, I always answer “we ensure that business-critical applications work reliably at all times.”

That sounds boring and that’s exactly how it should be: uneventful, almost annoyingly reliable, no cause for concern. That’s managed hosting as we would want it as end users.

4 Things That Matter to Us

The ayedo Group works on various pillars of digitalization. We strive to accelerate the digitalization of processes in Europe, Germany, and our home, the Saarland region.

Germany, and the Saarland in particular, houses an enormous arsenal of IT infrastructure and IT expertise, largely hidden in the shadow of international hyperscalers and big tech companies. Excellence attracts excellence, which leads to the long-term reduction of infrastructure and expertise in our region. Our goal is to establish digital centers of excellence and competence that know how to use and potentiate the existing infrastructure and expertise - thus contributing to managing structural change.

Digital Sovereignty

We’re simply becoming too dependent on international corporations. We’ve forgotten how to help ourselves. We need to understand that controlling your supply chain is a good thing.
Europe has access to endless infrastructure resources but largely uses the services of international corporations. Why? Because the services are better packaged and faster to deploy. Within the framework of European legislation, this leads to numerous conflicts and puts German companies in a precarious situation in many respects - to comply with European laws and regulations, they must forgo technological and economic advantages. Many decide, perhaps unconsciously, against it.

It is absolutely possible to process European data on European infrastructure without having to sacrifice advantages or violate laws. As European service providers, we must work closer to our customers’ problems instead of arbitrarily copying the hyperscalers’ models.

Cybersecurity

Security comes from experience and expertise. We don’t even understand the threat but buy off-the-shelf solutions. We need to understand that the biggest risk is ourselves.
With more sovereignty comes more responsibility. The risk of becoming a victim of cyber attacks is incredibly high and grows with every year we spend creating rules instead of solutions.

We understand cybersecurity in many ways. From company-wide implementation of single sign-on to confidential compute to ISO27001 certification - security has many facets and we must consider them all.

As European service providers, we must face the fact that a large part of the risks as well as a large part of the protective mechanisms were not conceived and developed by us - but come from outside. We cannot rely on others to provide our shield but must learn to deal with the attack vectors of modern IT ourselves.

IT Modernization

We waste endless opportunities through our fear of new things. And we’re being overtaken by our neighbors, whose skilled workers we so desperately need. We need to understand that we’re no longer an industrial nation and stop thinking like one.
Apart from the fact that a large part of our digital communication goes through the channels of foreign corporations, our biggest risk in Germany is the widespread “uncharted territory” attitude of companies. Herbert Diess once said so beautifully that every company is now software-enabled. We go one step further and say: every company is software-dependent.

Without functioning IT, you’re paralyzed today. And if you look at the IT of an average mid-sized company, you’ll find that most organizations are virtually completely paralyzed relative to their possibilities.

As European service providers, we owe it to our customers to offer more modern services than “web hosting” or “Microsoft 365 licenses.” An emancipated digital company today needs private chats, multimedia communication via audio and video, AI-powered tools, a ticketing system, centralized password management, interoperability across all operating systems, infrastructure for fully mobile work, social media management tools, file sharing, project and contract management, custom software, and so much more.

Process Digitalization

Time is money. Instead of improving ourselves, we stick to the familiar and lose both. We need to understand that change is now the only constant.
Paper is long outdated, but that’s not enough. Countless processes in German companies still don’t use automation, interfaces, and artificial intelligence for more efficient and productive processing. We bind the valuable, creative lifetime of our fellow human beings with dull activities because we still don’t trust the computer - or are still afraid of discovering new potential.

While the computing power of our infrastructure doubles approximately every 18 months, we’ve forgotten to shift into the next gear when it comes to digitalization. Companies need better advice while at the same time being more open to the benefits of digitalized processes.

As European service providers, it is our task to sensitize our customers to this fact and deliver excellent consulting. This also means looking beyond our own horizons and offering pragmatic solutions instead of building rigid corridors.

Our Vision

We dream of a modern, fully sovereign hosting platform in the spirit of Plesk and WHMCS but with the feature set and modern paradigms of public cloud platforms. We want to create an ecosystem horizontally integrated across all relevant areas of infrastructure operations that enables everyone from freelancers to large corporations to meet their hosting needs in a legally secure and privacy-compliant manner.

In the area of IT infrastructure, much has shifted toward outsourcing and public cloud in the last 10 years. In recent years, however, this shift has been increasingly determined by an awareness of sovereignty and freedom of thought. The walled gardens of the large cloud providers are increasingly becoming golden cages for companies, and at the same time, the protection of personal or proprietary data is becoming more and more important. Protection that can no longer be found in the offerings of the hyperscalers in accordance with European legislation.

Our vision is the creation of a decentralized, sovereign technology platform for companies and teams that need to provide IT infrastructure and services for their customers, employees, or partners. A platform that is pragmatic enough to handle exotic infrastructure but can also easily integrate the resources of the major cloud providers. A platform based on open standards and best practices whose top priority is efficient integrability into third-party systems. A platform that comes not only as a software-as-a-service offering but can be operated on your own infrastructure.

Our Mission

We enable companies of all sizes to efficiently use cloud-native technology. To do this, we develop an ecosystem of products with which our customers can build their own managed service business or expand their existing portfolio with horizontally integrated and easy-to-manage container and app solutions.
